The Loved for Life connection: Tigger’s Story

Carolyn and Martha

Legacy Circle member Carolyn holds a special place in her heart for cats. She’s enjoyed a multi-cat household for most of her life and has always been able to manage the relationships between her feline friends. The same was true when Carolyn added a playful kitten named Tigger to her family.

Everything went well for a few years. Unfortunately, as Tigger aged, he started having issues with the other cats in the house. After months of trying to work it out between the cats, Carolyn decided the best option was to rehome Tigger. She turned to Animal Humane Society for the support she needed.

Because Carolyn is a Legacy Circle member—a special donor who’s included AHS in their legacy or estate planning—Carolyn had access to one of our most unique programs: Loved for Life. Through this program, AHS will help the pets of Legacy Circle members find new homes using a specialized adoption process, should they become unable to care for their cats, dogs or critters.

Martha and TiggerRemarkably, at the same time, we learned about Tigger needing a new home, another Legacy Circle member, Martha, had just reached out to us looking for a new cat to add to her family. Martha is not new to the Loved for Life program and has adopted a Loved for Life cat before. When we told her about a sweet Siamese named Tigger in need of a new home, she was happy to help. Tigger needed some time to get used to his new home, but now he’s content as can be. He even enjoys cuddling up with his dog brother, Prince.

“I’m so grateful to the Loved for Life program for making these connections,” said Martha.

Carolyn and Martha keep in touch and share stories about Tigger. It’s given Carolyn so much peace of mind to know Tigger is in a safe and loving home and to be able to visit him. Legacy Circle members continue to inspire us with their compassion for animals and others. That’s why we’re so proud to offer the Loved for Life program and to support Legacy Circle members in always having pets in their lives.
