Don and Lila's Story

Don and Lila

Don's gift not only ensures a loving home for Lila should something happen to him, it also will help other animals in need.

When Don's dog, Lady, passed away, he knew life would be lonely without a faithful companion by his side. One day a close friend told him about a special dog they had seen available for adoption at AHS. Don went to meet Lila, and it was love at first sight. He immediately knew she was the dog for him, but he was hesitant. Should he adopt another dog considering how old he was?

Thankfully, an AHS staff member told Don about Animal Humane Society's Loved for Life program, a benefit for AHS Legacy Circle members. Don learned that by including AHS in his estate plans and joining the Legacy Circle, he'd be able to enroll Lila in Loved for Life, where AHS would find a new loving home for her should anything happen to Don.

At AHS, we believe age shouldn't determine whether animal lovers have pets in their lives and we do all we can to support the human-animal bond for a lifetime. The Loved for Life program gives peace of mind to our supporters who feel so passionately about the welfare of animals that they have included AHS in their estate plans.

With the assurance that Lila would always have a loving home, Don felt confident in his decision to adopt Lila. He designated AHS as one of the beneficiaries of his estate and became a Legacy Circle member. Now he and Lila can enjoy the rest of their days together without worrying about the future.
