Brothers are reunited at forever home

Buggs and Fricke

You may remember hearing in late August about the heartwarming story of Buggs and Fricke. These two adorable dachshunds were from the same family, but surrendered to Animal Humane Society at different times. Their former owner, Bruce, turned to AHS to surrender Buggs when his partner went into a nursing home. A few months later, he also surrendered Fricke after realizing he was unable to get Fricke the exercise he needed.

Since Bruce is a part of our Legacy Circle (a special group of supporters who’ve included AHS in their estate plans) we were able to provide special service through our Loved for Life program to place his beloved dogs in a new home.

When Bruce informed us of his difficult decision to surrender Fricke, we reached out to the adopter of Buggs—a compassionate, animal lover named Erica. Incredibly, she was more than willing to adopt Fricke and reunite him with his brother, Buggs. Now, both dogs are happily living under the same roof again!

Since we are so connected with our Legacy Circle members, we were able to partner with Bruce and Erica to make this reunion possible.
