Years of Mutual Devotion Inspire the Bucks to Include the Animal Humane Society in Their Wills

Cuddles the cat lives up to her name. Ever since Donald and Donna Buck brought her home from our Woodbury shelter ten years ago, Cuddles has been a source of great comfort and companionship. Shortly after adopting her, Donna was diagnosed with liver cancer and had to undergo painful chemotherapy treatments for more than four years. Curled by her side throughout her illness was Cuddles—a constant source of love and support. Since Donna's passing, Cuddles has been a tremendous gift of strength for Donald. She makes their house feel like a home and gives him some of the companionship he lost with Donna.

The devotion is mutual. For the past two years, Cuddles has had kidney problems and must be hydrated with fluids twice each week by the Hastings Veterinary Clinic. But for Donald, this is a small sacrifice considering all that Cuddles has given him over the years.

It is that love that inspired Donald and Donna to make annual gifts to support our work and to include the Animal Humane Society as a beneficiary in their wills. They love animals dearly, but can't adopt them all. Instead they want others to have the opportunity to adopt loving companions like Cuddles, and they want pets like her to find homes where they are needed and cherished.
