Squeaker's Loved for Life story

donor-squeakers.jpgWhen his health deteriorated, Ron, a Legacy Circle member and longtime AHS supporter, could no longer care for his beloved cat Squeaker.

As a benefit of being a Legacy Circle member — including Animal Humane Society in his estate plans — Ron was able to enroll Squeaker in our Loved for Life program. This program was created so that when a member passes away or can no longer care for their animal, AHS will re-home the pet to ensure the new adopter will provide the kind of life the owner would want their pet to have. It's our way of saying "thank you" to Legacy Circle members that have provided so generously to AHS.

Animal Humane Society reached out to our inner circle of staff and volunteers with hopes of finding someone special to adopt Squeaker, a handsome, friendly, 5 year-old tabby.

Martha, an AHS foster volunteer and Legacy Circle member herself, heard about Squeaker's need for a new home. She had two 16 year-old cats at home and wasn't planning on adopting another, but she was compelled by Squeaker and his story. She explains, "What drew me to Squeaker was that he was still connected to someone that wanted to keep him but couldn't."

Squeaker is thriving in his new home, and Martha is happy she added him into her family. Ron was, too! Martha would bring Squeaker to visit Ron regularly until he passed away, and he and his family were thrilled Squeaker found such a perfect match, and a new place to call home.
